Winter Vacation?

Hey peeps. I am thinking of taking a nice long vacation this December. Not sure if I want to go climb a mountain, or sit by a fire with a tub of roasted nuts and a gallon of hot chocolate, maybe both. Any suggestions on where to go in the continental United States (I refuse to go to Alaska, lol.)

I suggest, believe it or not, Salt Lake City. Great ski slopes and sweet resorts.
I head there at least once a season.
